No lawn please

There are lawns everywhere in US especially in suburbs and low-density urban land. When human being occupy a space and have not figure out what to do with it, we place turf there. Lawns are so common and green that they become part of American Dream.

However, things we take for granted do not mean they are absolutely right. We always do the wrong things and do not change it when it is too late. Did you know the following realities?

–          Lawns are the largest irrigated crop in the US

–          Lawns contribute to storm water runoff

–          Lawn care uses huge amounts of gasoline

–          Lawn care requires many chemical pollutants and toxins

What to replace lawns – weed and wild flowers. They are tough enough to live by themselves.
