There have been about 411 new species of both plants and animals in the Amazon in the last 4 years. There are all kinds of new species that have been found some of those include: a flame pattern lizard, thumbnail-sized frog, and a bright colored snake according to the World Wildlife fund. Although many of these species are being discovered everyday it is hard to protect both the animals and their environment because of the rapid rate of deforestation. Many of the animals that they have discovered have been raised in captivity and are assumed to be endangered because of how rare it is to see in their natural habitat. One of the interesting findings is a Tiki monkey that purrs. According to the scientist Thomas Defler this is something that they do when they feel content. The major problem to the advancement of this type of research is the deforestation. That is destroying ecosystems and endangering biodiversity.
